Vinegar and Water Solution

by Julie
(San Francisco, CA)

I own 3 cats and 3 dogs. Luckily they are all litter box trained and housebroken. My 13 year old lab started having a bladder problem a few months ago. I have found the best thing to clean up her slip ups is vinegar and water and baking soda. You can make a paste with the baking soda and vinegar which work quite well but is very messy to clean up.

I have found that if you take the vinegar and water solution (1/2 cup vinegar and 1/2 cup warm water) and apply it to the stained area with a hypodermic needle so you can get into the carpet padding and then use a towel to blot the surface dry and the smell is completely eliminated.
