My Hardwood Floor Cleaning Experiences

I've had two main experiences with cleaning hardwood floors. The first was in a home my wife and I rented in MA not long after we were first married. This was also my very first experience trying to clean a hardwood floor.


I found a simple approach of frequent sweeping to be the best approach. Also when spills happened, we immediately dried it up and then went over the area with a slightly moist towel wrapped around the broom. My second experience was in our own home.


We had dark cherry hardwood installed in our foyer and I think from now on we will go with more of the light oak shades. The dark cherry shows dirt much faster. We basically use the same methods for cleaning but need to sweep almost every day.
