How to Remove Wax from Carpet

Removing a wax spill from your carpet is really simple and can be done with items most people already have around the house. Gather the following items to use in the wax removal process: an iron, an old towel and a butter knife or scraper.


Heat up your iron on a medium level setting. Important: be sure to do a test to make sure that the iron is not so hot that it will burn a hole in your carpet! To be safe, you can test a small sample from your carpet, if you have one, or a spot inside a closet. Place the towel on your carpet sample or over the inconspicuous spot and iron for a few seconds. If this does not damage your carpet, then you should be safe to try it on the area with the wax spill.


First, you will place the towel over the wax spill and iron over the towel to heat up the wax. Once the wax is warm again it should become pliable and come up from the carpet very easily. If necessary, gently use the scraper or the butter knife to assist in the removal of the wax. Most likely the wax will come up without even needing to use the knife or scraper.
