Effortless Vacuuming!

by Kate
(San Francisco Peninsula, CA)

I love cleaning my floors. I clean my hardwood floors every day without lifting a finger. How is that possible, you ask? I use my two Roombas.

The Roomba is an automated vacuum robot shaped like a giant disk. It sits low to the floor so it can go under tables and chairs. You place Roomba in the middle of the floor, press the power button, press the clean button and off it goes.

You would be amazed at how much dust, dirt and other debris it picks up. I do sweep occasionally with a soft broom, mind you, but you can only sweep where you see dirt. Roomba finds dirt I cannot see. With five cats, believe me, there is plenty of loose fur and dander to vacuum up.

Roomba has a lot of entertainment value as well. The cats are used to the noise it makes, perhaps too used to it. Sometimes Roomba will come up behind one of them and "goose" it.

I believe that by picking up grit (hard little pieces of rock that get tracked in from outdoors) Roomba is helping preserve my hardwood floor's surface. Otherwise grit would abrade the floor's finish.

The Roomba doesn't require much maintenance; just empty the bin occasionally and marvel at how much it picked up. It has a removable filter you can clean. And you should take care to remove any hair or fur buildup around the rollers.

Hope this gives you some ideas for keeping your floor clean!
