CLEANING HARDWOOD FLOORS

by Aires Penano
(Bukidnon, Philippines)

Having hardwood floors is expensive but the fact that it is health friendly gives the ‘worth it’ feeling. When it comes to cleaning, it is a bit delicate dealing with hardwood floors because they are vulnerable to scratches, stains and other sharp objects that may hit it. But there are ways to clean it.

Nowadays, there are sprays to help protect the wood from early decomposition caused by moisture and excessive heat. If you do it manually, make sure that the scrub you are using will not scratch the wood.

When applying wax for shining purposes, it is better to use the liquid ones because not only it makes the floor shinier, it also prevents the scratching because you will not need to scrub afterwards.

When you just want to clean the dust, you can grab a vacuum cleaner because it is the safest way to ensure that the floor be free of scratches. To remove stains, you can also use vinegar or baking soda (but not both). And from my own experience, always take care of your hardwood floor.
